Finally...we are super close to completing our new chicken coop!

We have been working on our much needed 3rd chicken coop for nearly a month now. Granted, since we hatched chickens over the summer, we should have gotten this coop done back in August or September, but, never the less, here we are nearing the end of November and finally getting started on it.

It was slow going with rainy days and the cold setting in. We appreciated some help from hubby's dad and mine one afternoon.

Then, I really didn't think we were ever going to get the coop painted! The weather has been most uncooperative...either raining or too cold to paint. We had to prime all of the raw wood and then paint the exterior.

I've skipped several photos of the steps here ~ too busy trying to get the painting done in the few hours of warm, dry weather that has been so sporadic!

I have had to forego several activities lately in order to get this thing done, but, thankfully, we are really close to having it complete. I must say a special "Thank You" to my family for helping out with schedule coordination. We really just had to work on this thing when the weather allowed it.

Above you can see we've added the corner trim and are working on the window trim. Unfortunately, we still have to complete a door, which will have nestboxes in it, and a "flap" door on the other side that will be for cleaning out the coop. Inside we will only need to add a roost and screened area under the roost. After the coop is totally complete, we will also have to set up the run area before the chickens can be turned loose in their new "home".

Wow! This was definitely not supposed to be such a difficult project!
