Wayne got the legs on the base of the coop early this morning after the boys and I painted the floor with a sealer yesterday. This coop is going to be a 6' x 8', which is a little larger than what we need right now. But, we've learned from our past mistakes...getting the horse before the cart scenarios. So, this time we will have a little extra space before we hatch any more this coming spring!

Wayne cutting the hole for a mesh window to help with air flow through the coop. Alex working on attaching the plywood to the wall frame. An air-nailer was one of the best purchases we've ever made! ;-)
There we go--a floor and one wall down...3 more walls and a roof to go! Wayne has high hopes of finishing all of the rest tomorrow. Fingers crossed--that would be so awesome! I'm so ready to get all of our chickens "organized".
Tomorrow, we hope to have Zeke out there helping with everything (he was icky today with sinus issues). This is a great learning experience for the boys. We cover everything from basic measurements and angles to leveling and proper planning. They also learn skills like using various tools, including power tools; how to's of painting; and sometimes brainstorming since we build our coops "from scratch" to fit our needs. :-)
